The 2024 Granville Carnival, for its 150th edition, promises to be a memorable event with a rich and varied program, taking place from Friday February 9 to Tuesday February 13. Here is a detailed overview of the festivities, day by day, including locations, times, and activities:

Friday February 9

  • Projection Mapping : The event will kick off at the Podium Cours Jonville with three projection mapping sessions scheduled for 6:00 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 11:30 p.m.
  • Pre-opening with the Archipelago : A free stroll by the Acousteel Gang brass band will liven up the city center from 6:30 p.m.
  • Opening concert : Marcel and his orchestra, with The Jean's Tonic as the opening act, will perform at the Maison du Carnaval at 8:00 p.m. Admission is free, but tickets must be collected in advance.

Saturday February 10

    • Carnival Market : From 10:00 a.m., Cours Jonville comes alive with a market and musical entertainment.
    • Handing over of keys : At 2:00 p.m., on the float of the Demoiselles Granville Terre et Mer at the Rond-Point du Calvaire, the handing over of the keys to the town will take place.
    • Children's cavalcade : Departure from Calvary at 2:15 p.m. towards the carnival house, followed by a Children's Ball at 3:30 p.m. (free for children, €4 for chaperones).
    • The parade is on fire : At 6:00 p.m., Podium Cours Jonville, followed by the “Le Roi” Show at 7:30 p.m. and a Saturday with fanfares at 8:30 p.m., with a stroll throughout the city.

Sunday February 11

  • Musical aubades : From 10:00 a.m. in the city center.
  • Officials’ drink : At 11:00 a.m. at the Maison du Carnaval.
  • The Grande Cavalcade : Single departure from the port at 1:30 p.m.
  • Carnival-goers' picnic : At 7:00 p.m. at the Maison du Carnaval, followed by a Luminous Cavalcade at 9:00 p.m., departure from Cours Jonville.

Monday February 12

    • Drink for carnival-goers and partners : At noon at the Maison du Carnaval.
    • Dad's Ball and Mom's Ball : At 7:00 p.m., respectively at the Maison du Carnaval and the Salle de Hérel.
    • Projection Mapping : Three sessions at 8:00 p.m., 8:30 p.m., and 9:00 p.m. at the Podium Cours Jonville.

Tuesday February 13 (Mardi Gras)

  • Humorous and satirical cavalcade : Departure at 1:30 p.m. from Calvaire.
  • Judgment and execution of His Majesty : At 4:30 p.m. on Plat Gousset Beach.
  • Big and small confetti battle : At 6:00 p.m. at Cours Jonville, followed by mapping projections at 9:00 p.m., 9:30 p.m., and 10:00 p.m.

Various exhibitions and activities will enrich the experience from January 16, including an exhibition on "The First Carnivals" in all the media libraries of Granville Terre & Mer and mask creation workshops.
